George E. Linney, Jr., MD, CPE, FACPE, VP, joined Tyler & Company in 1995. A year later, he founded the firm’s Charlotte office. In 1998, Hallie T. Banker(then Hallie Travis), Senior Research Associate, transferred from Atlanta. And now, 15 years later, the duo continues to anchor the office and thrive.
While close to Tyler & Company’s Atlanta headquarters, Charlotte offers an ideal location for servicing high-caliber healthcare systems in the Carolinas. Clients can capitalize on local market knowledge and the subspecialty experience consultants offer via the firm’s team approach.
"I’ve found more and more of my time focused regionally over the years," says Dr. Linney. "Now I hardly ever travel west of Mississippi."
Banker adds, "Larry [Tyler, Chairman and CEO] recently completed a successful CEO search for FirstHealth of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, NC, and we’re recruiting for a number of other opportunities in the state. I can remember many exciting searches we’ve done, such as COO for Cone Health (formerly Moses Cone Health System), a five-hospital health system in Greensboro, NC."
Leveraging Dr. Linney’s expertise, Tyler & Company’s Charlotte office also completed various medical director positions over the years, from those in health systems to group practices. Other popular positions include physician enterprise executives.
"Surprisingly, the type of searches I’ve conducted hasn’t changed much over these past 15 years," Dr. Linney reports. "Though healthcare and healthcare financing has changed, the need for physician executives has held steady."
Technology allows for seamless interactions among all offices. For example, although the Charlotte office receives IT and administrative support from Atlanta, "the Internet makes it easy for me to work with colleagues in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Austin and Cleveland.
Dr. Linney originally came to Charlotte in 1972 to finish his pediatrics residency and start a medical practice. He and his wife vowed to return, an option made possible with his career as a Tyler & Company consultant.
Banker fell in love with the town during a client site visit. As soon as the Charlotte office sprouted, she relocated. Fate would have it that not too long after, she met the man she would marry! The working couple now raise two young children.
