The administrator partners with talented providers and an engaged board, to lead the hospital into the future. An agile and visionary leader who understands the financial aspects of community healthcare is needed to continue successfully navigating a changing healthcare environment, and to continue the development of innovative ideas and programs around population health, expansion, safety, quality and satisfaction. The current administrator is retiring.
North Mississippi Medical Center- Iuka (NMMC-Iuka) is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute-care hospital that offers full laboratory, clinical pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation and respiratory therapy services. NMMC – Iuka is one of six hospitals nationwide and the only one in MS to receive the Premier Health Care Alliance’s inaugural Quest Award for High Value Healthcare. To achieve this award Iuka reduced mortality and cost of care while improving patient experience and patient safety and delivered more evidence-based care.
NMMC- Iuka’s parent company North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) is a nonprofit, community-owned, and integrated health care delivery system serving 24 rural counties in northeast Mississippi and northwest Alabama. The organization includes six hospitals, four nursing homes, and 34 clinics. It provides preventive and wellness services, hospital-based emergency and acute care services, post-acute care services, and a preferred-provider organization. The NMHS workforce of 6,226 employees and 491 physicians serve at health care facilities located in six Mississippi communities.
The Administrator will provide visible and effective strategic and administrative direction, providing leadership, vision, and hands-on, day-to-day operations management for the system, including the administration of hospital activities and other corporate entities to ensure compliance with established objectives and the realization of quality, economical healthcare services. The administrator will represent the hospital to the community and other health agencies and work to further progress the mission of Northern Mississippi Medical Center, to continuously improve the health of the people of their region.
Iuka is built on the site of a Chickasaw Indian village, was founded in 1857. Woodall Mountain, located five miles southwest of Iuka, is the only state high point that was subject to a battle during the Civil War. The Battle of Iuka was fought September 19, 1862. Woodall Mountain was renamed in 1887 in honor of Tishomingo County Sheriff Zephaniah H. Woodall.
The successful candidate will have more than 5 years of senior level healthcare leadership experience as an administrator for a hospital working within a health system. It is preferred this executive has an advanced degree and have a history of community involvement. Experience working with a Board is preferred, as is experience within a rural or community hospital environment.
