The Organization:

The GBMC HealthCare System includes Greater Baltimore Health Alliance (GBHA), GBMC Health Partners, Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation, Gilchrist Hospice Care and the Sandra & Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute.

GBMC is a 342-bed medical non-profit community academic hospital (acute and subacute care) located on a beautiful suburban campus. GBMC handles more than 23,000 admissions and approximately 52,000 emergency room visits annually. Since its founding in Towson in 1965, GBMC’s accomplishments have validated the vision of its founders to combine the best of community and university-level medicine. GBMC’s main campus also includes three medical office buildings: Physicians Pavilion East, Physicians Pavilion West and Physicians Pavilion North. In addition to its main campus located in Towson, GBMC’s care can be found in facilities throughout the community, including Hunt Manor, Hunt Valley, Owings Mills, Baltimore City (Helping Up Mission), Texas Station, Mays Chapel, Perry Hall, Bel Air, Jarrettsville, and soon to be opened Padonia Village.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the chair of medicine, the neurology division chief, also known as the physician practice leader, is a care provider responsible for providing the highest quality neurologic care, both in the hospital and in the ambulatory setting and developing Programs of Excellence in subdivisions of neurology. With the clinical/practice manager, he/she is responsible for staffing and practice operations.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a practicing neurologist with at least five to seven years of significant experience in an academic community or teaching hospital. This individual will demonstrate commitment to clinical excellence and quality improvement, patient satisfaction, standards of care, developing solid physician relationships and caring for the underserved. The successful candidate will complement the neurology staff with board certification in internal medicine and a neurology subspecialty.

Towson is a suburb of Baltimore and just a short distance from the Washington D.C. Metro area and the Chesapeake Bay. It is a college town with tree-lined residential streets, restaurants, bookstores, a major branch of the county library, movie theaters and shopping.
