Tyler & Company is pleased to announce we have been retained for an exciting search for a

Chief Executive Officer

to lead the transition from Boone Hospital Center, currently part of BJC Healthcare to the new independent – Boone Health System

The Organization

Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed, full service, regional referral center with a reputation for excellence in cardiovascular medicine, obstetrics, neurology, oncology, orthopedics and surgical services, with 1,600 on its general staff and 350 physicians on the medical staff.  www.boone.org

  • Ranked #1 hospital in mid-Missouri and #5 hospital in the state by U.S. News & World Report for 5 years
  • Only hospital in mid-Missouri designated as 5-star CMS
  • 4-time designated Magnet hospital; the first mid-Missouri hospital to achieve Magnet designation
  • The hospital and its Stewart Cancer Center are members of the Siteman Cancer Network

The Opportunity
The new CEO will lead the organization as it prepares for the operating conditions of an independently operated hospital and integrated health system.  This is an exciting opportunity to re-create an independent community hospital by disengaging from the BJC system and developing new processes and services designed to support the local community.   This organization has the strength, depth of resources, and connection to its community to thrive as its own health system.

The Candidate

A charismatic and entrepreneurial CEO is needed to lead this cultural change.  The ideal candidate will have a history of building solid relationships with physicians, board members, staff and community leaders alike, along with success in leading strategy and growing revenues within both the hospital and outpatient environments.  Previous experience as CEO/President for a hospital or system of similar size to Boone Hospital Center and its operations, or as COO of a much larger size hospital/health system is required. Experience within an independent, community hospital/system environment is desired.  Master’s Degree preferred.

The Community

Columbia, Missouri offers small-town friendliness with big city features.  It is a fast-growing city, valued for its highly educated work force, low cost of living, favorable government attitude toward business, award-winning schools and nationally recognized quality of life. With quick access to St. Louis, Kansas City, and the beautiful vacation getaway, Lake of the Ozarks, Columbia is also near 13 major shopping areas including the region’s largest mall and a downtown area featuring restaurants and unique shopping experiences often highlighted in Southern Living Magazine. Public Schools have earned the highest possible rating in Missouri.  The area annually produces a number of National Merit Scholars.  Columbia Regional Airport makes traveling convenient.

~A generous base salary, incentive plan, relocation and executive benefits package is offered~
