Tyler & Company is pleased to announce an outstanding opportunity for a:
Chief Medical Officer
The Renfrew Center
Our Mission: The Renfrew Center and The Renfrew Center Foundation are dedicated to treatment, training, research, prevention and advocacy in the field of eating disorders. In a safe and healing community we provide women with the skills and support to recover from anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, and to create meaningful, satisfying lives.
When The Renfrew Center of Philadelphia opened in June 1985 as the first residential facility exclusively dedicated to the treatment of eating disorders, it was the pioneer in the field. With an enthusiastic staff of administrative and clinical personnel—psychologists, social workers, nurses, nutritionists, psychiatrists and physicians—Renfrew’s initial goal was to provide first-rate treatment to those in recovery and bring national attention to the hidden epidemic of eating disorders.
As the demand for high-quality eating disorders treatment grew, Renfrew responded to this critical need. Five years after first opening in Philadelphia, Renfrew opened a second residential treatment facility in Coconut Creek, Florida, to bring Renfrew to 98 residential beds. Since that time, 17 additional sites have opened throughout the country, allowing Renfrew to offer a full continuum of care—residential, day, intensive
outpatient and outpatient services.
Renfrew has now provided more than 85,000 adolescent girls and women with the tools they need to succeed. The first organization to host a national conference on eating disorders, Renfrew has trained over 40,000 professionals from the U.S. and abroad. Today, with its unmatched record of experience, The Renfrew Center continues to be a leader in the development of new and innovative treatment and training approaches.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for oversight for all psychiatric services throughout Renfrew and the operations of programs and services at the residential treatment facility in Philadelphia. The CMO also interfaces and consults on the medical and clinical issues at the non- residentials sites.
At the Philadelphia residential site, the CMO provides oversight for clinical, nursing, aftercare utilization review (UR), medical records, nutrition, medical, and psychiatric services and programs, directing the review and revision of all policies in these areas. He/she works closely with the Director of Plant Operations to ensure patient safety in the EOC, and also works closely with the Quality Manager and other senior staff to ensure Renfrew Philadelphia and the larger Renfrew network meet regulatory and standards requirements for licensing and Joint Commission. The CMO works closely with the business office, admissions, UR and insurance contracting to ensure that clinical services throughout the organization are authorized and paid. Working collaboratively with the Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, the CMO provides oversight for the Renfrew Clinical Excellence Board. The CMO leads the Clinical Standardization Committee (CSC). The CMO serves as an active participant in Renfrew’s executive team and reports to the CEO.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and creative medical professional who has medical leadership experience. The candidate must be an allopathic or osteopathic physician with successful completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program and current board certification. A minimum of seven years of clinical practice experience is required, along with a current medical license and the ability to practice in Pennsylvania. He/She will be a visionary, mission-driven and passionate leader with excellent relational and interpersonal skills.
Located in suburban Philadelphia, just a short drive from Center City, the main campus of The Renfrew Center is surrounded by woodlands and diverse communities.
The Renfrew Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
