Tyler & Company is pleased to announce an outstanding opportunity for a:
Chief Medical Officer
Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center (FQHC)
Albany, New York
The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center (WYH) was established in 1971 to provide access to consistent quality health care without regard to income. Today, WYH offers primary medical, women’s health, dental, optometry, podiatry and behavioral health services to over 20,000 men, women and children at health centers in Albany, Troy and Watervliet. School-based health centers provide medical care in three Albany elementary schools, as well as the Watervliet City School District. A mobile health unit provides medical care at schools, public housing, residential treatment centers and community centers. Through a collaborative dental program, WYH delivers preventative dental care at schools throughout the community and has recently added on-site restorative care to over 70 schools. WYH is proud to be a provider for the WIC program in the region. The health center was named in honor of Whitney Moore Young, Jr. Using the Urban League as a platform, Young worked to put an end to segregation and discrimination.
This is an exciting opportunity to strategically lead the medical division of a highly regarded community health organization, serving the underserved communities in their full life cycle of care. This role allows for a new structure designed to support increased integration and develop innovative models of care, including medical residency development, resulting in volume and service-line growth. Mission, vision and collaboration are key cultural attributes. Proximity to the state capital provides an opportunity to influence public policy. WYH is seeking a mentor/administrator who will engage the staff and promote their continued development in the practice while positioning WYH to succeed in a value-based purchasing payer environment.
The successful candidate will be a communicative and strategic leader with 10+ years of medical management experience and five+ years of prior supervisory experience with clinicians. Experience within a community health center setting is important, along with a demonstrated cultural competency in caring for and working with people from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, sexual orientation and gender identity backgrounds. The candidate must be an MD or DO with a current board certification, preferably in one of the primary care specialties, and able to practice medicine in New York.
Affordable housing, excellent schools, balanced lifestyle and a respected medical community are a few of the attributes that make Albany, New York, attractive to individuals and families. Located on the west bank of the Hudson River and close to New York City, Albany is the capital of New York. Albany is known for its rich history, commerce, culture, architecture and institutions of higher education. Known as the Capital District, this area offers the advantages of a major metropolitan area while maintaining the qualities of a small community.
A strong compensation package, including executive benefits, will be offered.
