The Opportunity: The system director, benefits & colleague health services, provides administrative leadership by developing strategic benefits and colleague health and wellness initiatives that support MHS’s mission, vision and values. The position is key to the strategic positioning of the health system as an employer of choice in the industry and the region through the careful crafting of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards that work to promote value, equity, motivation and engagement among the MHS staff. This individual, in collaboration with the SVP and CHRO, will have the authority and accountability for planning, directing and coordinating all benefits, wellness and colleague health programs for MHS.
The Candidate: The ideal candidate will have proven success in leading and building a team, a track record of having strong technical knowledge of benefits integration on the health and welfare side, the ability to manage large projects of varying complexity and be motivated to drive change with a growing organization. He/she must be comfortable leading a diverse team, some of which is remote. This position requires a master’s degree in business administration, human resources, finance or comparable field. The candidate must have a minimum of five years of leadership benefits in healthcare, as well as a strong HR background. Shared services experience in a major health care system preferred. Also, a high level of comfort with compensation database systems, ideally MarketPay, and working knowledge of HRIS platforms, preferably Lawson. SPHR, CEBS (or CBP) certification preferred.
The Community: As the sixth-largest city in Illinois with 116,000 residents, Springfield is also the state capital. Springfield’s downtown district is a mix of modern and historic all wrapped up in one unique package. The downtown schedule is packed with music festivals, art fairs and food truck events. Local family attractions include a drive-in theater, an amusement park and the new Kidzeum.
