Tyler & Company successfully closed a search for Dean, College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
The Medical University of South Carolina educates and trains more than 3,000 students and 700 residents in six colleges, and operates a 700-bed medical center. MUSC is South Carolina’s only academic health science center, the largest non-federal employer in Charleston, and has annual budgets of over $2.4 billion. The College of Health Professions is the largest of six colleges at MUSC, with 800 enrolled students, a bachelors degree program, five masters programs and four doctoral level programs.
The successful candidate previously served as a physical therapy director, vice chairman of education and chief of outpatient development at a medical school in the Southeast. “[The candidate] was selected after an extensive national search and we look forward to welcoming him to this pivotal leadership role,” said Lisa Saladin, MUSC’s provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. “He is the ideal person to help lead the College of Health Professions and MUSC forward in our pursuit of excellence.”
The new role will be in effect beginning May 1, 2018.
