ATLANTA (November 18, 2019) — Tyler & Company, a full-service retained executive search firm specializing in recruiting top talent for healthcare, academic medicine, health, and life sciences, today announced that it has placed the new chief executive officer at Carteret Health Care.
At the end of the last summer, Tyler & Company partnered with Carteret Chief Executive Officer Dick Brvenik and the search committee to create a succession plan and kick-off the search process. After presenting a robust slate of candidates, Carteret Health Care leaders chose William “Harvey” Case.
Case will succeed Dick Brvenik, who is retiring at the end of January 2020.
“It has been an honor to serve as Carteret Health Care’s CEO for the last 8½ years. I know that Harvey will continue Carteret Health Care’s commitment to providing the best health care possible to our community through efficient and effective services,” Brvenik said.
Under Brvenik’s leadership, Carteret Health Care was the only North Carolina hospital in 2019 to be named in the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics. The organization also received an American’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics by the Women’s Choice Award this year. In 2018, Carteret Health Care was the only hospital in the North Carolina region to earn a Top 5% for Outstanding Patient Experience nationwide by Healthgrades. In 2017, it was recognized as a Most Wired Organization, one of 13 hospitals in the state to receive the distinction.
The new CEO search at Carteret Health Care was led by Tyler & Company’s President Preston Smith and Assistant Vice President Charlotte Tinsley.
“Carteret is a dynamic health care system and serves an important role in providing access to affordable and quality healthcare with exceptional compassion and respect to the patients and families in Carteret County and the surrounding region,” Smith said. “Harvey Case understands, and has exemplified, the qualities of exceptional leadership, and his recruitment represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the future of Carteret Health Care.”
Case’s start date will coincide with Brvenik’s transition on or before February 1, 2020. Before accepting the CEO position at CHC, Case served as the president at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, North Carolina. Prior roles he has held include president of Vidant Pungo Hospital, president of Duplin General Hospital and vice president of finance/operations at Vidant Community Hospitals.
“I am honored and humbled to be Carteret Health Care’s next CEO,” said Case. “I thank the members of the CHC’s Board for their confidence and trust in me, and I look forward to contributing to the success of Carteret Health Care.”
